Privacy
Effective 13 October 2026.
This policy covers the Movianx app for iPhone and this website. We wrote it in plain words.
In short: your voice stays on your phone, and our server keeps only what a resident remembers about you, until you tell it to forget.
The short version
- The app listens only while you hold or tap to talk. A light shows when it is listening.
- Your speech becomes text on your phone. The audio never leaves your phone.
- Only the text goes to our server. A safety screen reads it before any reply is written.
- An AI model from Anthropic words the resident's reply. ElevenLabs gives her a voice.
- Our server keeps only her memory of you. No audio. Your words are not written to our logs.
- Forget me, in the app, erases what our server keeps. Our backups roll off after 7 days.
- No ads. No tracking. We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
- The residents are AI characters. The app says so on every screen.
Who we are
Movianx LLC is a company in Georgia, in the United States. On this page, "we" and "us" mean Movianx LLC.
When you talk to a resident
- Listening. The microphone is on only while you hold or tap to talk. A light shows when it is on. Apple's on-device speech recognition turns what you say into text, on your phone. The audio is never sent to us or to anyone else, and the app doesn't save it. The first time, your phone may download Apple's speech model from Apple. On an iPhone that can't do this, you type instead.
- The safety screen. The text goes to our server over an encrypted connection. Before any reply is written, a safety screen reads your line. It is never skipped. Your line goes on to the reply only after the screen has passed it. The screen runs on Anthropic's AI model.
- The reply. Our software decides what the resident does. Anthropic's AI model then words what she says. To do that, it receives your line, the talk so far, and what she remembers about you, such as the name you gave her.
- Her voice. ElevenLabs turns her words into her voice. ElevenLabs receives her lines, which can repeat things you told her. It never receives your audio.
- Her reply comes back to your phone, sentence by sentence.
What our server keeps
- A pass for this install. The app makes a random ID the first time it needs our server, and our server gives it a pass. It isn't tied to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID. You don't need an account.
- Her memory of you. The name you give her, if you do. When you met. Who you have talked to.
- The town's records that involve you. For example, that Mirren told Ruth you stopped by, and While You Were Away lines that name you.
- Your age band. The one you chose (under 18, or 18 and over), so the right protections apply.
- Daily counts. How many turns you used today, so the daily limit works.
- Reports. When you tap "Report this line", we get the line's fingerprint (a hash). Never its words.
What it doesn't keep:
- No audio. It never receives any.
- No transcript of your talks. Your words are used to write her reply. They are not written to our server's logs.
- No location, contacts, photos or anything else from your phone.
- No advertising ID. No tracking across other apps or websites.
Like every server, ours sees your network (IP) address when your phone connects. We use it to keep the service safe, for example to limit how many new passes one address can make in an hour. Our server logs keep it for 7 days.
Forget me
In the app, go to Settings, then Privacy, then Forget me. It erases from our live server, at once:
- her memory of you, and the town's records that involve you;
- While You Were Away lines that name you;
- your daily counts;
- your pass. It stops working. If you come back, the app starts fresh.
Our nightly backups roll off after 7 days, so within 7 days it is gone from them too. Forget me can't be undone.
If you delete the app without pressing Forget me, the server can't tell it was you: the pass was known only to your phone. We erase what we keep for a pass that hasn't been seen for 12 months. If you can't use the app, write to us and we will help as far as we can.
Who else handles your information
We use these service providers only to run Movianx. Each handles your information under its contract with us and its own privacy terms.
- Anthropic. Its AI model runs the safety screen and words the residents' replies. It receives the text described above.
- ElevenLabs. It gives residents their voices. It receives the residents' lines.
- Our server host, DigitalOcean, in the United States. It runs our server and its backups.
- Apple. Speech recognition runs on your phone, under Apple's terms. Apple also delivers the app.
- For this website: Loops sends our waitlist emails, and Vercel hosts the site.
We don't sell your information. We don't share it for advertising.
The residents are AI
Every resident is an AI character, and the label "AI character" sits beside her name on every screen. Our software decides what she does, an AI model words it, and her voice is synthetic: designed, not copied from a real person. No one at Movianx reads or listens to your talks. If you sincerely ask whether she is real, the app answers plainly, outside the story.
Children and teens
Movianx is for people 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you tell the app you are under 13, it doesn't open Talk or While You Were Away, and it doesn't contact our server about you. If we learn that we hold information from a child under 13, we erase it. Parents can write to us.
At launch, Talk and the While You Were Away lines written by the AI model are for adults, 18 and over. People aged 13 to 17 can open The Door and hear While You Were Away told only in the town's own lines, with nothing written by the AI model.
Where Movianx is offered
At launch, the app is offered only in the United States. Our server is in the United States.
Keeping it safe
Everything between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Our server has one public door, and the rest of it is closed to the internet. Only the people who run Movianx can reach it. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep as little as we can.
Your choices
- Forget me erases what our server keeps, as above.
- Turn off the microphone for Movianx in your iPhone's Settings. You can still type.
- Skip Talk. The Door's sounds live on your phone, so it works with no connection.
- Ask us what we hold, or to delete it. Write to us. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state's law. These usually include the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it and to delete it. We will answer within 45 days. We don't sell your data or share it for advertising, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights.
This website and the waitlist
- If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, whether you signed up as a viewer, a creator or a business, and which page you used, with Loops, the email service we use. If a sign-up fails, the address is written to our server log so it is not lost. We keep the waitlist until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email we send.
- We use your email only to write to you about Movianx. You can unsubscribe from any email, or write to us.
- Our sign-up page uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits, without cookies.
- Beacon, our software for venues, is not in use anywhere yet. What it reads and keeps is on our Trust page.
Changes
When this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If a change matters to how we handle what you tell a resident, we will say so in the app before it applies.
